Review

During the month of March, I decided to take part in a 31k Walk Fundraiser

Doing this challenge prompted me to finally purchase a health and fitness tracker watch since the step tracker on my phone wasn’t as reliable and I needed more accurate readings. I went for the Xiaomi Fitness Band 6, so here is my review after now having this product for a few months.

What’s in the box? 🎁

Stainless steel watch strap (bought separately)

Stainless steel available colours: Silver, Rose Gold, Black

I was debating between purchasing the Smart Band 5 or this one (Smart Band 6), as you can see I went for the 6. This smart band has a 1.56” screen display; large enough but also compact to see the date, time, step tracker count, heart monitor and also battery percentage at the same time.

The matte black strap gives a simple everyday look which is fit for any occasion and outfit. The stainless steel strap is for the times you feel a little fancy and want to spruce up your overall look, without spending a fortune. The stainless steel strap comes with a rubber insert that helps the Smart Band 6 to fit properly into the mould.

Not only does it look good, but this Smart Band is also extremely comfortable to wear. I have sensitive skin so being able to wear this 24/7 in different weather conditions and settings is fantastic.

Functionality & Ease of use

The instructions to use this Smart Band are easy to read and straightforward.

The things this small product can do is very impressive. Performing over 10 different functionalities from Weather Forecast reading to monitoring SPO2 Blood Oxygen Levels.

More Specifications: Heart Rate Monitor, Sleep and Breathing Quality Tracker, Activity Tracker, 5ATM water resistance, Pedometer, 14 Days Battery life, Find My Device, Notification alert, Event & Reminder alarms, Music control, Menstrual Cycle Tracker, Fitness challenges, 30 different sport modes, Calory counter

When researching this band, I saw a few people make mention of the confusion they had syncing the watch to the ‘Xiaomi Wear’ app. A number of Youtube videos suggested this particular Smart Band best connects to the ‘Mi Fit’ app. Once the Mi Fit app is downloaded you can then get full benefits from this little gem of a Smart Band.

Connecting to Mi Fit App

When connecting your device to the Smart Band you need to make sure the bluetooth of the device (phone or tablet) that your app is downloaded to is turned ‘ON’. You will then be able to sync the two together so it registers the information gathered from your watch onto the Mi Fit app.

You can also link your phone notifications to show on your watch. I don’t use this feature because I feel it would drain the battery quicker and I’d prefer not to see some notifications.

Favourite Features

You can set a security feature on the watch so that when it’s taken off it requires a pin to unlock and use. You can set this pin yourself and change it when you want.

Being able to keep the band on in the shower or whilst having a bath is fantastic. It also means I can keep track of the time or check my heart monitor reading if need be.

As this watch is connected to my smartphone via the Mi Fit app I can control my music. This is handy when I’m not in the same room as my phone and need to change a song or turn the volume up/down etc. I especially love this feature when I’m washing dishes and can’t be touching my phone with soaking wet hands.

I recently went to Morocco and because of the 5ATM water resistance (up to 50 meters water resistance) feature, I was also able to keep it on whilst at a water park, splashing about and going into a wave pool.

A long-lasting battery is probably one of the features that appeal to me most because even if I’m away for some time it means I can get some good use out of it without worrying that the watch needs to be charged.

The charger is only 40cm in length but it is magnetic which means once the watch is near the charger it connects with ease. It also doesn’t take long to charge completely, which makes the overall battery life even more so impressive.

Final Thoughts – Spoonie Friendly?

This little gem is definitely a new favourite of mine, even after 4 months of use. I would recommend it to everyone, whether you or someone else you know is chronically ill, athletic or neither it’s still such a great item to have. I don’t know why I was debating getting a smart band for so long, but now that I do have it I am loving it and recommend it to everyone.

Spoon Rating 5 - Laura Spoonie

Pleasantly surprised and happy with this item.
