Sunshine Blogger Award 🌻

Hey my Lovelies,

So the next blog I had scheduled to post was actually going to be a cooking challenge, but let me be real, at the moment all of my illnesses and anxiety decided to gang up on me. The kitchen just isn’t a safe place right now, so cooking challenges aren’t going to be happening for maybe another few months. I’ve been really down lately and I was contemplating whether I’m even cut out to be a ‘blogger’, I have 8 blog posts up so far since I started this wordpress journey in June and I guess some self doubt and lack of motivation really started to kick in.

During this week I was surprised by a blogging nomination – The Sunshine Blogger Award! This nomination really cheered me up and I shall use it as motivation to carry on this journey for personal growth and development despite my physical and mental health challenges.

I want to send a big, massive Thank You to Nancy Mulligan for nominating me, check out her web page at myeverydaychallenges.com

Sunshine Blogger Award

The basis of the Sunshine Blogger Award is to recognize bloggers who are positive, creative and inspiring. It is also a way to bring recognition to so many talented and dedicated bloggers.

There are a few rules to the award and nominations, as to get to know and discover fellow bloggers.

Rules:

  1. Thank the blogger who nominated you in your blog post and link back to his/her blog.
  2. Answer 11 questions that the blogger asked you.
  3. Nominate 11 new bloggers to receive the awards and write 11 questions for them to answer.
  4. List the rules and display the Sunshine blogger award logo in your post on your blog.

These are the questions I was asked by Nancy:

What motivated you to start blogging?

Answer: I’ve been up and down with my chronic illnesses especially getting worse over the last couple of years. In and out of work since I was a late teen, and now that I’m in my twenties most of my time is spent in doors house bound. I needed something to stay positive and keep me ‘sane’ whilst at home since my physical and mental health stops me going out and being a ‘normal’ twenty-something year old. Blogging is a way for me to share my art, encouragement and everything in between, and for anyone else who is struggling with chronic illness or just needs a little cheering up they can visit here and know that they’re not alone.

Also after connecting with Fibrobutterfly18, (she’s a sweetheart who is also a chronic pain fighter), and being subscribed to her page at fibroqueen.com it really boosted my confidence to sign up for wordpress and start typing.

What hobby would you get into if time and money weren’t an issue?

Answer: Probably candle making, but between the price of wax and my clumsiness it isn’t happening

What fictional place would you most like to go?

Answer: My dream (fictional) destination has always been – NEVERLAND a.k.a Never Never Land!

Ever since I found out about Peter Pan and Neverland I’ve been trying to find the directions, but erm Google Maps keeps freezing. According to J. M. Barrie, the author of – Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up, the directions for Neverland are:

Near the “stars of the milky way” and it is reached “always at the time of sunrise”. Neverland is located in space, “second star to the right, and straight on till morning”…. if it was real of course.

Growing Up is pants. LOL

Are you usually early or late?

Answer: Sometimes I’m early, sometimes I’m late. I like to think I’m balanced, haha.

What are some small things that make your day better?

Answer: Being able to get out. As soon as I have energy to go to a park, sit in a green area amongst nature, flowers and birds I’m instantly happy. Even just seeing a row of trees and the skyline from my bedroom window makes me happy, because it reminds me how beautiful creation and it’s creator is.

What is one of your favorite smells?

Answer: The smell of freshly cooked sugar doughnuts. You know, the fresh ones you get from a seaside pier (I could really do with some of those right now)

What age do you wish you could permanently be?

Answer: If I could go back in time I’d say 7. It’s my favourite number, plus that’s the age you are in primary school a.k.a 1st grade…life back then was a lot easier

If your life was a book, what would its title be?

Answer: A Series of Laura’s Unfortunate Events… and a bit of Banter

What’s the best thing about you?

Answer: Probably my sense of humour, no matter how much pain i’m in or have been through i’ll always resort back to cracking jokes and laughing. Some might say I’m bonkers but really that’s what keeps me sane.

What is the strangest thing you have come across?

Answer: A Handful of Humans

What is something you will NEVER do again?

Answer: Work in a nursery!!!

OK folks, so that’s my 11 questions answered. Maybe you’re a little wiser about who I am, or maybe you’re even more confused…let me know in the comments.

I tried to choose bloggers who I haven’t seen receive this award before. Some have been a part of the blogging community for a while, and some started this blogging journey around the same time as myself.

  1. Congrats! And thanks so much for the nomination! I agree, 7 would be a great age to stay at. Although I do love a lot of things about being just barely an adult too haha xx
